Does rich mean the same thing as wealthy? According to Webster's Dictionary has both meaning similar meanings. I am of the opinion that when it comes to being
rich versus wealthy that I'd rather be wealthy!
Wealth is: abundance of valuable material possessions or resources. Rich is: having abundant possessions and especially material wealth.
Again both definitions are so similar and the reason I'd choose wealth is because of one thing.
American King James Version Deuteronomy 8:18
But you shall remember the LORD your God: for it is he that gives you power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he swore to your fathers, as it is this day.
The nation of Israel was God's chosen people. While silver and Gold are the Lords surely that wealth pertained to more than just having an abundance of money. It included health, possessions, sound mind, peace, posterity, hope, and an eternity with Him.
Don't get me wrong, to be rich is a part of wealth, but it's the entire man that draws me to value wealth a whole lot more appealing.
American Standard Version John 1:2
Beloved, I pray that in all things thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
